You guys have done everything just right from the first aid side. You have
recognized the problems (well, you have unfortunately gotten a lot of
experience) and done just the right thing quickly. Congratulations!

On the flip side, we have to stop meeting like this. Maybe it is time for
some of us to have the medical checkup we have been putting off. Have them
find the next one months before it would have become an emergency. Life is
precious and we have had a run of really good luck combined with your really
good first aid. I expect your first aid will remain top notch, but the luck
may run out. My Dad has had the good luck to have them find two aortic
ruptures about to happen during two separate checkups. If they had ruptured
before they got the stint in, he would have lived for less than two minutes.
But he helped the luck along by getting those checkups annually.

For those who won't get that check up, I'll tell you what they probably
would have told you. Eat a balanced diet. Reduce your calories by reducing
simple carbs (not all carbs) and fat. Start a regular (at least 3 times a
week) exercise program. Walking for 10-30 minutes is a good start.

I'm doing a serious exercise program and it is showing results. My BP was
135/90 after taking all the BP drugs. I now do 1 hr a day of weights and 1
hr a day of cardio (I worked up to this over the last 5 months) and my BP is
120/76, pulse 72, and all my blood numbers have moved from slightly in the
bad zone, through the good zone, to the excellent zone. Other than eating
more fish, I have made few adjustments to my diet. I feel better, have more
stamina, and am not tired at the end of the day.

Start slowly. Add to your exercise weekly. Watch your diet. You will reduce
your chances of having cardiac problems and have more fun in your life. I'll
get off my soapbox now. This was not a lecture, it is because I care about
all of you.

In service,
Caelin on Andrede

We will have to call in the CDC to investigate the water supply in Loch
Ruadh!

Tongue in cheek,
