GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs advanced systems analysis for General Services Division and its customers. Coordinates, plans and analyzes business requirements, procedures and problems to automate or improve existing systems. Provides expert technical assistance and support for information management and technology infrastructure operations. Provides support, coordination and advice involving the development, implementation and maintenance of projects/programs. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence .

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, management information systems, data processing, engineering, or mathematics, which includes a minimum of twelve (12) semester hours in computer science, information systems or data processing plus five (5) years experience in systems analysis and design, systems administration or computer programming. Additional experience in systems analysis, administration, programming, or project management may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Consults and evaluates user requirements and provides support, coordination and advice for programs and systems.

Provides technical assistance and support for applications/hardware problems and for information sharing for external entities in a customer support environment.

Provides support for desktop, client-server, web, and mainframe-based applications.

Evaluates and reviews architecture and infrastructure requirements, tools and techniques of IT/IS projects and makes recommendations for solutions.

Coordinates training , workshops, programs and migration to new methods, operations, techniques and tools in area of responsibility.

Researches, evaluates and approves purchase requests and implementation of vendor supplied hardware/software .

Maintains best practices issues and problems associated with processes, project management, quality assurance and development.

Codes, tests, debugs, installs and modifies systems.

Designs and writes specifications for programs and systems.

Operates a vehicle to provide automation support for customers at various in and out of town office locations.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Driver's record check will be conducted by the Department. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving state or personal vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct agency business.

External final applicants for any department position who could potentially be required to drive for the department must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to reasonable cause testing during employment.

Successful completion of a post-offer/pre-employment physical exam at the employer's expense is required.

REMARKS
