A note from his Doctor for that purpose has been discussed.  Especially 
since he has been to Amsterdam each of the last two years.  But one of the 
security staff assured him that his claim would be confirmed with a hand 
held detector of some sort.  That and the 3 or 4 inch scar by his knee and 
the 6 screw holes around his leg.

BTW, tonight his Dr. assured him that if he did as told, he would be 
walking right in two months and running in three.  Can you believe 
it?   The miracles of modern medicine!
