The armor workshop is Saturday, September 17th. Please refer to the Shire
Calender for time and place. We will be concentrating on developing metal
working skills as relates to creating armor pieces to meet Ansteorran
minimum armor standards. This will include cutting and dishing pieces to
create elbow and knee cops, along with the leather strapping needed. If you
need other armor components, we can also work on those. Please bring any of
the below listed tools that you may have. Lord Kristrodr Bjarnarson (Kris
from Houston) has graciously agreed to come up for the weekend to teach
basic armoring. He will have patterns and some tools with him.
 Tools needed:
Ball peen hammer
Jigsaw with plenty of metal cutting blades
Screw posts w/Lok-tite or 10 penny nails
Anvil
Dishing stumps
Beverly Shears (would be really nice. Please contact me ASAP if you have
access)
Armor-weight leather
Leather working tools and dye
Saddle soap
Duct tape for pattern making
For this interested, I have found a great deal on metal. I can get a 4'x8'
sheet of 14 gauge mild steel for $50.00. I am willing to pro-rate the price
depending on the amount you require for your armor. This should amount to no
more than $5 to $10 per person for elbow and knee cops, if that much. I just
need to know who is interested ASAP. Money will be due at the workshop.
We can either order pizza or take up a collection for sub sandwich fixin's,
as this workshop can go all day, depending on how long everyone wishes to
stay.
Families and others are welcome, and encouraged, to attend and work on
other projects. However, please do not disturb the main purpose of this
gathering, the armor workshop.
