Vivat Kaz, for words so dear to our hearts.

When I first looked at joining the SCA with my family, I was impressed with
the titles of the Barony of Elfsea, the Barony of the Steppes, and others.
While these are fine and noble groups, Providence led me to the "Lowly"
Shire of Loch Ruadh. In Loch Ruadh, we found more than a local SCA group, we
found a family. I have found Brothers and Sisters, my children have found
Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents. Like any family, we have our squabbles and
temporarily hurt feelings. But like all strong families, we apologize, heal
and come back together stronger.

The truth of this previous statement was brought home to me this past
weekend. I was able to move about the Lughnasad site and observe the Shire
members at their best. Throughout the one hundred plus degree heat, I saw
everyone working together and laughing. I almost felt as though I was at a
family reunion rather than a hot August event.

I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you for counting me and my family
among your members.
