Please keep in mind that your Shire is currently in need of your willingness to volunteer your time and commitment.
We have Exchequer, Knight Marshal, and Lughnasad Autocrat open for bids. All 3 positions close at November Officer's Meeting.
I have received 1 bid for Exchequer and no bids for either Knight Marshal or Autocrat. Traditionally we have tried to encourage at least 2, preferably 3 bids for each open position. The decision on who will fill each Office falls to the Regional Officer for each position and we prefer that they have multiple applicants to choose from. None of our Offices are particularly difficult, their duties can be easily learned with some effort and the support of prior Officers.
Part of maintaining our status as a group is that we have a minimum number of Offices filled and it the the responsibility and privilege of our Populace to fill these positions.
Offices are generally held for a period of 2 years with concurrent warrants every 6 months. Should an officer find that they are unable to complete the 2 year commitment, the office can be re-warranted at one of the 6 month periods after being announced as open for new bids. Deputies assist with the duties and responsibilities of each office, so that no one person carries the full load, and there is a person to step in should there be an emergency. The only requirement to obtain an Office is that you be a current member and maintain your membership throughout your term in Office. To serve as Exchequer you must attend an Exchequer's Warranting class and remain up to date on changes as they occur. The Knight Marshal is not required to be an authorized fighter or an authorized Marshal. The Autocrat becomes an authorized Deputy Seneschal for the duration of the period between being chosen and the end of Lughnasad, generally January through August. Experience and various
traits or skills enhance a persons suitability for a particular Office, so a person who has served as a Deputy may have a slightly higher chance of being chosen to fill that Office, but a Deputy is never a "shoe-in" for that position, so feel free to bid on any and all Offices in which you have an interest.
Anyone having a desire to assist the Shire by serving as one of these Officers, please contact me and the outgoing Officer between now and November Populace so that we can prepare your bid.

  In Service,
