We had slightly more excitement here--apparently high winds damaged our
roof, which unbeknownst to us began to leak and shorted out our smoke alarms.
Since they are all wired together, they all went off at the same time. Our
house is about 3700 sq ft, and there are numerous alarms. The dog, baby, and I
were most miserable creatures for about an hour and a half. I didn't know
how to turn them off, and Ron wasn't home, so I called the fire dept.
(non-emergency, of course). They sent a truck out here even though I told them there
was no smoke. Finally, Ron came home and found the leak in the attic, and
was fortunately able to restore silence (what silence there is with a 5 month
old baby, that is). Now we have to find out how much it will cost to fix the
roof. Hey--you know what they say--when it rains, it pours, right?
