I want to reiterate what Bice said below. Please try to remember that the website is a work in progress. Currently the primary goal is to make sure the functionality is improved over the previous website. Once the functionality is set, then the focus will shift to adding the "wow" factor and making it look cool.

Possibly I can help with the colors being discussed.  I may be way off
base but to me the red on black, or the reverse, is very hard on the 
eyes if you look at it for any length of time. The lighter colors are much
easier on the eyes even after a long session of reading.  And I do 
realize that it is partly due to the age of my eyes; they are old even
though I am not. :)

I would remind everyone that this is a work in progress.  You don't make a
dress by putting on the trim first.  You get the fit and then you pretty it
up.  I feel sure the pictures and device will follow an soon as everything
else is right.

Just my 5¢ worth (I'm out of pennies)
