About 1 and 1/2 times the measurement of your bust, roughly.  It  really 
doesn't take much, since they are shorter than a tunic and have no  sleeves.  Two 
yards should be sufficient.  If your bust is 42", then  it would be 42 + 21, 
or 63" so if you have 60" wide cloth, a yard and a half  would be more than 
enough.
