Yikes! Being out of touch this week, I somehow missed news of that whole event.

I must admit, however, I've always assumed that a wooden structure that seemed *designed* to conduct lots of air into the fire would burn spectacularly. When a big bonfire (aka Texas A&M) is designed and built, it's usually built with an eye towards ensuring that plenty of draft is available to feed a fire that begins at the base interior of the structure.
