This was shown last night on NatGeo channel.  The find was incredible!  Some of the close ups of the gold jewelry, sword pommels, and other items has fantastic detail with scales on fish, celtic knotwork, and other decorations.  The program last night contained conjecture that the items were buried in the same area at different times as part of an unknown Anglo-Saxon religious ceremony.

If you see it scheduled, it's a good program!

Here's a link to stories about the Staffordshire Hoard, a find of Anglo-Saxon 8th or 9th century objects valued at 3.3 million British pounds found in 2009 by a metal detector hobbyist.  The hoard is reported to be approximately 1500 objects and date from near the time of the Anglo-Saxon Christian conversion.
