I had a good time at King's Round Table yesterday, and was glad to see Lady Cait energetically doing all the MoC stuff and Lord Ragnar attending the WebMinister meeting and helping Cait out.

Two things that came up at Round Table that I wanted to put on the list immediately, for those that had not heard previously.

His Majesty is moving to change the way the Regions are arranged, as he feels it is inconvenient that some regions have as few as 4 groups active, while other regions have as many as 22 groups.  He also feels it would be more convenient to reduce the number of regions to three.  Planning is underway to shuffle the groups assigned to each region to make things more equal and re-align regional areas.  Planning is also underway to allow groups to do events across regional lines more easily, for example, making it more convenient for a southern region group to do a joint event with a northern region group, with the site in the central region.

As of the first of next year the Black Star will be going online, as will the Kingdom calendar.  In the past it has been stated that the printed calendar in the Black Star was the official calendar, but when this happens the online calendar will be the official calendar.  The Kingdom may change the way the calendar handles event scheduling at that time.  The handout addressed three suggestions:

1) All Kingdom & PED events shall be without conflict.  No other event shall be held on those weekends against them.  This suggestions' goal is to increase the number of people attending Kingdom and Baronial events.

2) At least 70% of available weekends after Kingdom, PED & Holidays (New Year, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) should be booked before any weekends are double booked.  The goal of this suggestion is to encourage weekly participation and use all gaps in the calendar.

3) Remove all limits on the nuber of events any group can place on the calendar.  Although there was a time in the past when groups were allowed more events than currently, His Majesty feels that this has been circumvented by groups having joint events.  He hopes this will lead to groups having several smaller events, thus always having an event somewhere in Ansteorra.  He feels this will not get out of hand, however, since groups cannot financial fund a large number of events.

It was discussed later that a rule may be applied that allows Shires to have first pick of event dates over Baronies, preventing the Baronies from taking advantage of all the good calendar dates.

It was also encouraged that groups make use of dates that might have inclement weather to plan indoor events, such as artisans or collegiums, and so make use of all available calendar dates.

I will have the handout available at both Officers and Populace for the group to look over.  Please bear the above in mind as we go about planning for our events next year.
