As the new Arts and Sciences Minister for our shire, I just wanted to have you all start thinking of activities and classes that you might like in the next year.  What would you like to learn, teach, or share?  Do you have contact information for people who could introduce us all to new skills? The first thing we will be doing is completing the silk banner painting we started at DFT.
Some of the things I would like to learn more about include herbs, home brewing, working with fur and leather, period embroidery, carving wood, bone, and antlers, advanced scribal techniques, garb, making glass beads, making jewelry, making trim with hand looms, drumming lessons, dancing lessons, blacksmithing, basket making, making garb patterns, tips on making your camp look less mundane, show and tell for finding bargains for your persona or camp, poetry, and where to buy stuff. I will distribute a survey in the near future.
There are two museum exhibits in the area now that sound very interesting.  The Kimbell has an exhibit on Samurai armor through the end of August.  Tuesday and Friday evenings are half price.  The Museum of Science and History has an exhibit on the real archaeology behind Indiana Jones through August 10.  We would need 15 people to qualify for a group price.  Do we have enough interest to work on group trips for either of these?

Remember that our Lach Ruadh fall event will include an artisan competition.  This will be an OOPS competition---out of period, sort of.  This could be any work you are proud of, but that is not completely period.  This would be a way to show off your talents, or in my case, lack of talents, to the rest of us.
