Hancock? That IS interesting.

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. I believe I will suggest a stroll down Hillcroft.

Niccola

I get alot of my indian cottons from Hancock Fabrics, of all places as they usually have a huge selection of the cottons period for me.

Rhiannon and Katya probably have the best resources, but I know in Houston, most of the sari silk shops are over near Sharpstown Mall (I-59 at Hillcroft) in some strip-centers along the feeders, along Hillcroft at I-59, and down behind that on Harwin street, where all the import stores are in the near-chinatown area of Houston.

A while back, Ameline, Elfsea, made the most beautiful Italian gown using sari silk.. it just floats (may not be completely period, but it's pretty). Ciarnet of Stargate gave a shopping tour of chinatown last year for Stargaters, that I missed, we need to get her to do another one, maybe after war.

High Fashion is certainly great, but they can be pricey, they are at Louisiana and Elgin, near downtown Houston - I was just there on Saturday.
You can also check out Glick Fabrics, they now sell to the retail industry (used to be wholesale only, whole bolts only), and they will now cut the bolts..Glick is around I-59 inside loop 610 around Buffalo Speedway along the I-59 feeder. I haven't been there in a while, so don't know what they have. They have Sat (day) and Sun(afternoon) hours, too.
Callico Corners is having a sell on their fabrics till end of Feb, they do upholstery and drapery fabrics, not as many fabrics, their fabrics are on rolls, but some nice things.

Good luck, Hillary

To My Fair Sisters of the Middle Reaches,

I will be hosting people for Kingdom A&S this year and they have requested to visit some fabric stores that provide both Sari lengths and bolt fabric appropriate for use in period Middle Eastern clothing. This is not my area of expertise (as you know) so I am looking for suggestions for shops.

Thank you for your help.
Niccola
