Hello!

I just suddenly realized that Stargate Yule is only a couple of weeks away!
Goodness, where does the time go.

I've been chatting off list with some of the folks who have been longer in
the Barony than most and one has brought to mind a charming tradition which
used to be quite the practice at Stargate Yule events in the past. However,
it seems to have fallen away or out of practice over the past few years. So
I thought I would tell you about it and let you decide what you want to do.

Folks used to make small "token" gifts and give them out at the Yule event.
They were never anything big and they didn't try to get one of something for
everyone but they were given out from the table or by hand rather like a
largess. They might be candles given out with a blessing such as "May this
candle light your path this year" or salt or spice given out with the
blessing of "May this salt (spice) bring flavor and goodness to you this
next year." People could get quite creative with this and it was a fun way
of just giving a little thank you, "I appreciate you" token plus a way to
bring even more "special" to what should be an very special event.

I think this is really a charming tradition and am giving some thought as to
how I could do something similar this Yule. It sounds like a tradition
worthy of saving and reviving.
