[Namron] Fwd: [NR] New Oklahoma Tax Law and Merchants

MessageAll,

As the Autocrat of Namron Protectorate, I find myself in an akward position. Since the ban on event merchanting, according to the Northern Regional Seneschal, is supposed to be "worked out" by October, I could still have merchants at our event (Oct. 10-12). But, what if it's not worked out? And, even if it is, will you merchants be willing to schedule yourselves to be here? I understand how important setting up at a well attended event is to merchants. I deeply desire to have this situation settled before then. Any event would be greatly lessened by your absence. Namron understands the value of and contribution by merchant's displays.

If there is anything I can do to assist anyone in this matter, please don't hesitate to contact me or the Merchant Coordinator for Protectorate (see this month's Blackstar for merchant contact information).

In Service to the Crown (and in annoyance with the State of Oklahoma),

Cellach Ferguson
Autocrat
Namron Protectorate XXVII

  Chass,
I can understand your being upset. But please don't kill the messengers. This is not the call of the groups up here but of the Kingdom Seneschal. We cannot make a move until she lifts the ban. It's certainly not our intent to drive anyone away. I was looking forward to shopping at Baronial. I don't know what else can be said, and its certainly understandable though very unfortunate if you have to make plans to be elsewhere because of it.

  In Service,
  HL Bella
  Frazzled Seneschal of Wiesenfeuer

What I want to know is plainly this. Why is it estimated to take the kingdom seneschal so long to find out what I found out in a 15 min phone call to the Oklahoma Tax Commision. Peeps can say dont panick yadda yadda yadda but you have to look at it from the merchants point of view here. I am sitting on about 10k in inventory. If I have to go out of state to my normal high sellers the SCA then I will do so which means reworking my schedule and events I had planned on attending and merchanting at. Which the ban is state wide in the state I live in so there fore that leaves me with only the option of going out of state, for an estimated 3 months. My expenditures rise if I have to go out of state to sell thus I must raise my prices and etc, which I dont know about most merchants but I make my planes 3 to 4 months down the road and this welp throws not only a monkey wrench in the works but honestly kills my ability to make plans.

For all merchants that were planning trips to Oklahoma in the next three months, better make other plans. We have been banned from all events in Oklahoma for at least the next three months. Lord Wolfon
