[Namron] Pork Pies

Samarrah,
I cooked the pork roast in the crock pot with spices, I can get the
exact mix later if you want, or just season to taste. I know I used
clove, ginger, basil, onion and garlic powder, and bay leaves, I can't
remember exactly what else at the moment. After it cooked, I cut it
from the bone and cubed it. I took about 12 cups of chopped pork and
mixed with about 1 1/2 - 2 cups each of chopped dates and currants
(raisins). I made standard pie crust-flour, shortening, salt and water,
and rolled it out, cut circles, put filling in and folded it over. I
cooked them at 350 for about 20 minutes, until the crust started
browning, since the filling was cooked already. This made about 45 pies
total, so about 1/3 cup filling each. Combining fruit and meat was
fairly common in European cooking in the middle ages, from what I've
found.

Have fun.

Annabelle

Annabelle,

My husband LOVED the pork pies I brought home from
PIE-PALOOZA the other day. He especially loves them
with Barbecue sauce (which is probably NOT period, but
try to tell that to the stomach that roars).

He would be so very happy if I obtained your recipe
and began making them for our family.

Pleeeeeeese....pretty pleeeeease!

:o)

God be with you in every pass. Jesus be with you on every hill. Spirit
be with you in every stream, headland, ridge and law, each sea and land,
each moor and meadow, lying down and rising up, in the trough of the
waves or on the crest of the billow. Each step of the journey you go, go
with God.
