Ulf Gunnarsson is the Baron of Namron and a 9th c. Scandinavian
(Viking).  As a baron, you would address him as "Your Excellency" or
"Baron Ulf".  He also has a Laurel, the peerage award for Arts and
Sciences.  That carries a title of "Master", so you could call him
"Master Ulf".  Sometimes you will hear someone refer to him as "Hersir",
which is the Scandinavian word for baron.

He started in the S.C.A. as a heavy fighter, but after a couple of years
his bad knees got worse and he retired from fighting.  By then, he was a
herald and spent a lot of time at the list field calling the names of
fighters as they came on the field.  He was also having fun writing
songs and period poetry, performing them in the evening at the bardic
circles.  A bard is the S.C.A. term for anyone performing songs,
reciting poetry, or telling stories.  Some bards try to do real medieval
pieces, some try to write new pieces structured like the medieval ones,
and some just like to perform things that other people wrote.

He did a lot of heraldry and served as the baronial herald.  This meant
he got to announce things in court when Her Excellency Gwyneth was the
Baroness of Namron.  He held a few positions in the College of Heralds.
He also got to be the herald for Contessa Vanessa when she was Queen of
Ansteorra and for Barn and Kat when they were the Crown.  He still keeps
his hand in, occasionally heralding courts for other nobles and royalty

The songs and poetry he wrote helped him win many bardic competitions,
including the one to become the Premier Bard, which is like the King and
Queen's bardic champion for a year.  He has many other pursuits, such as
archery, that keep him busy when he isn't being the Baron.  He also
knows a lot about the Vikings.

   As for Her Excellency Maleah, I won't presume to answer in full for
her.  (Usually, I answer *to* her...)  The short of it is that she loves
Elizabethan and Italian Renn. costuming.  She taught Middle Eastern
dancing to a bajillion people and was one of a couple of people who got
it going in this kingdom.  She beads clothing, bakes bread, and has been
known to paint a bunch of pottery with heraldic pictures.  She does ten
thousand other things, one of which is taking care of me.  And I love
her for it.
