Here's a thought, guys, and remember I'm new so maybe it's been done before, but... When a new face appears in the midst and our madame/madmoiselle hospitiler approaches him/her, would it not be an awesome thing if we had a publication, (read small booklet) that is not an update of Namron's current activities, but an introduction to our Barony, with a list of those individuals, mundane names included, who currently inhabit Namron, their art, craft, science interests. It would have been really helpful if I knew at the beginning, for example, that our Baron and Baroness are Ulf and Maleah, that one addresses them by either mi'lord or mi'lady, or by a more correct title, and here I am fuzzy, because I don't know myself. Also, I know that Ulf has skills fighting, but with what, and truthfully I have no idea what Maleah pursues as her interests, if she has any time left after being Baroness. I have the Known Worlde Guide, guys, that thing is HUGE. When I have time I read it, but it
takes time. A small booklet, giving basic information, so one might stumble thru for a few months or even a year as they get a grasp on societal mores would be a fantastic boon for the newcomers. With that, our hospitiler would have a gift to offer any newcomer, welcoming them into our midst, would be able to direct them to the persons who could help them make their decisions on who and what they want to be, and in general help them put toes in the water because they know at least the names, and if I could talk my way into a digital camera, a picture of the players in Namron, as well as offer a basic idea of some of the activities they could pursue until they can get the publications from SCA Main. Thoughts?
