Little bit of commentary here....

I've been doing some thinking.. (yes, I know, for me this is a dangerous thing.) about playing in the SCA. I started in here just 3 years ago... this month to be exact... and at first I found it VERY relaxing and loads of fun. For awhile now tho, it's been NEITHER. :( For the past several months have noticed a running stream of issues. There are a LOT of politics going on, a lot of backstabbing, lies and other downright objectionable things. We get enough of this in the mundane world... why is it being brought into something that is suppose to be fun?????? Far too many folks are bringing hot tempers in and sucking all the fun right out of something that use to be enjoyable. Now I don't politic.. have done everything I can think of to avoid it. Clear down to giving up a belt that I was quite honored to be offered.
To back this up, I've also noticed as of late that event attendance seems to be a bit more.. um.. sparse than it use to be. Granted, a lot of this is probably due to job, money, certainly the high price of gas issues. But how many others out there feel as I do and tend to avoid events due to the behind the scenes stuff going on???
I think it's high time we ALL sat back and objectively looked at how we are playing. I like to think of the SCA as my extended family. Sure families tend to squabble and have issues.. but things are starting to get excessive which is not good all around. So please folks... chill.. have a drink.. get a massage.. whatever turns you on. :) And let's bring back the fun in SCA instead of all the anger and hard feelings.

Hugs!

Ok.. I've gotten that off my mind.. now I NEED an event.. revel.. anything.. Aww heck, someone just bring me a tablero board, a bottle and someone to play with and I'll be NICE and Happy once again.. hehehe
