Please accept my condolences on your loss.  It is never good news, but
especially not when you were expecting a happy phone call.  

We need more weddings/births/good news, and less sad news.  We've had
enough of the latter.

When my brother called this morning from New Mexico, I
thought he was calling to wish me a happy birthday. 
Instead, I got news that another of my nephews was
killed in a car crash this morning.  Although he was life-flighted to
the nearest trauma unit and they worked on him for several hours, he
didn't make it. 
He was 22 years old and engaged to be married this
summer.  Now, we have a funeral to attend instead of a
wedding.  Please pardon me if I miss a few
appointments over the next couple of weeks as I will
probably be going to New Mexico to be with my family
during this time of grief.
