[Namron] Namron Populace: 5 and / or under question ~ Parental attendance

Hi I am "Pooky" ~ Pseudo ~ Transitional Acting Minister of Children for the 
Great and Glorious Barony of Namron in the Stellar Kingdom of Ansteorra

At the first wednesday Populace meeting in june I was asked if it is 
mandatory for parents to be in attendance if their child is 5, or younger 
then five.

The answer I find from the Society of Creative Anachronism:

3. As different levels of supervision are necessary for different age 
groups:
    a. Children 'under' the age of FIVE should not be left unsupervised by 
the parent/legal guardian at SCA functions, even at planned children's 
activities.

and now a Pooky Guideline

If you think your child is unruly, hey no problem. all but one child I've 
met in the SCA is . Say "Pooky this ones a handful or something to give ME a 
heads up" and I will be sure to be prepared for that contingency.

But know:

A child from 4 - 17 who is participating at something I am in charge of, 
that is causing an unsafe environment or situation for their self or for 
others, Example:

Hitting other children in the face with large colored rocks made of glass 
and or purposely rasberrying germs in peoples eyes etcetc~etcetcetc.

Will cause ME to:

1. Communicate with the child that that is not a good thing.
2. Seek other grown up consultation and assistance in determining methods of 
effective behavior modifictaion.
3. Find and ask the parent to remove said child from the activity until I 
can be thoroughly convinced the behavior has been modified and will not 
reoccur.
    a. If the parent is reluctant or unwilling to remove the child from the 
activity: The activity shall be discontinued and made null, until I can gain 
council from the event steward(s), seneschal, or lastly bothering the 
Landed.

MY Intent is to make a safe, educational, and fun environment that children 
can learn the value of incorporating the SCA through out the rest of their 
lives. I call it (The 20 year Plan)

This is probably an email that should go to certain people privately to 
validate its merits ie. to make sure the Gospel of Corpora is stringently 
adhered to.

This is probably an email that should go to every parent so that everything 
is 'above board' and so that they know what to expect, and so that they know 
what I expect.

This is probably an email that should evoke a response from every person in 
charge and every parent with an opinion.  That could be a whole lot of 
E-list clogging emails. therefore

I now welcome and request anyone with a response to email ME "privately" to 
share with ME their how, whats, wherefores, thumbs pointed in various 
directions, ad infin item, etc.'s.
