yes, it will  unravel just sitting there waiting.
what I do on all of my garb is to put a rolled hem all around the cut 
pieces before I start to sew. ( a rolled hem is where you fold the 
fabric over twice on the raw edge so that the raw edge is enclosed 
.)then sew is down , with linen you can usualy finger press the hem 
inplace as you sew .
