Greetings!
In reading this letter, I first have to agree that us representing ourselves
in public in a good manner is a very important thing....and this information
(Which I was not there to see thank goodness!) made me think back.....
When I was 16, like most teenagers, I worked at McDonalds. There were
several times when I worked that we had a school bus come in, sometimes expected,
most of the time not. I remember my manager talking to me asking myself and
other employees to talk to the head of our groups (Band, Choir, Football, etc.)
to have them give her a "Heads Up" as to when they would be coming in. Her
reasoning was so she could have extra employees ready to go for the madness to
come.
Now, they made do as best as they could when they had no notice. The problem
was that the "Mundanes" in this case, had to wait an extra extended amount of
time for regular orders.
Okay, tangent time...I know I have not always received the best service at
IHOP, but I also know that it's a daunting process to have that many people at
once and only so many wait staff. So here's the idea (And the Point more
importantly)
Why don't we, on Populace nights, try to give IHOP the heads up a few days in
advance (We do know when we're having them long in advance!) and let them
know we're going to have a large party of 30+ people at approximately such and
such a time so they can get extra servers so the ones we have aren't so
overloaded???
I'm sure if we talked to Management they for one would be more thankful, as
well as the overworked and underpaid waitresses and waiters! I don't know if
it would make a difference or not, but it's worth a try! I know if it was me
making the schedule, I would want definite times that we're coming in so I
could make adjustments so that EVERYONE would be happy!
Now then, I'm not by any means excusing the behaviour of said person, but
maybe if we do this, it will help to improve service in the future so angers and
temperaments don't rise to such atrocities!
Yours in the Dream,
Lady Ailis Mareoun Haddock
