Samarrah,

This is a big topic to cover in a little powerpoint presentation. Anyway, I think this link will help you find the info you are looking for.

Subject: [Namron] OT(?): Children's Internet Safety...your assistance please

Hey all!

In a way this IS topical as we are using the internet to communicate with one another. So I'm using it to ask for a little bit of help.

I have been asked to give a presentation on Internet Safety to our Local PTA. The title of my presentation will be "Internet Safety; What every parent should know". This came on me suddenly and i have less than a week to prepare.

I've got a file started and I'm doing research, but for those of you who are parents, I'd like to ask you to share your input with me. Well, for any of you, not just the parents.

Questions I have are as follows:

What are YOUR concerns regarding your children on the internet?

What tips do you have for keeping children protected from predators on the internet?

What do you know about your child's chatting skills and/or experiences?

Do you know how to monitor your child's internet activities?

What resources did you use to teach your child internet safety? If you haven't done this yet, is it something you feel you need to do and if so, would you like resources?

How do you decide your child is ready to "surf" without supervision?

Are you familiar with the internet policies of your school or public library, and if so do you feel they are sufficient or do they need to be updated? What, if any, changes are needed?

Do you use and Internet Blocker?

Do you know what cookies/adware are and what they do to your computer?

Can you think of any questions I haven't asked regarding the safety of children on the internet?

Do you have resources regarding this topic you'd be willing to share with others and if so would you send me the links to the websites or contact information?

Once I've put together a power-point presentation I will be presenting it to the Local PTA and will be available for a limited time (due to using borrowed equipment) to travel to other groups/organizations in Central and Southern Oklahoma to present this information.

I appreciate all who chose to share their insight, and thank you in advance for your comments.

Sincerely,

Lady Samarah Basimah Latifa al Dhakira bint Anaan bint Mellilah

God be with you in every pass. Jesus be with you on every hill. Spirit be with you in every stream, headland, ridge and law, each sea and land, each moor and meadow, lying down and rising up,in the trough of the waves or on the crest of the billow. Each step of the journey you go, go with God.
