This was an event that was a lot of fun for me. I had the honor and privilege of introducing my ASL interpreter to the SCA. She had attended Med Faire before, but never an event. She enjoyed herself and would like to attend another if she can go with someone who will go home before her bedtime. We left at the ripe old hour of 9 p.m. lol
It was terrific for me to have someone interpret, especially for court. I heard and enjoyed more of court than I ever have. Being able to understand what was happening meant court wasn't so "long and boring."
The sidewalks and fairly level ground were terrific for my scooter and walking. The gravel was almost as easy to navigate in the scooter as the sidewalk. Of course, none of us had control over the weather or the muddy ground created by the recent rains. But, the grass made it ever so much easier to stay out of the mud puddles.
As always, we enjoyed merchant row and spent too much money, especially at the trim merchant. Mike is such a trim junky! Of course, I had my own share of trim I enjoyed as well.
I lost my Torsade at the event as my antique pin does not have a safety clasp. As is true to SCA chivalry, someone found it and realizing its significance immediately began looking for its owner. I was delighted to have it returned to me within just a few minutes of realizing it was missing.
My personal biggest complaint was that the bathrooms were dark. I happen to like to be able to see where I am going, whether I have a new tail that I have picked up from the toilet area, etc., and found the darkness a bit of a problem. Other than that, I had a great time and hope we use Will Rogers again. We may even have a tent and be camping by the time we attend another event there.
