The time has come to cool off from the triple digit Oklahoma summer heat with a water war. The event, which is being planned by the Barony of Wiesenfeuer, will be held in conjunction with the August Northern Regional Fighter Practice and cookout being hosted by Skorragardr Aug. 2 at Shawnee Lake. We will have a variety of water games to choose from. Below are the water games that I am currently planning. If you have any ideas or would like volunteer to help run a game, please e-mail me privately at dnk_p at hotmail.com. I figure that we will run both adult and children's versions of each of these games. In addition to the games, please bring water guns if you have them and we can have team water gun fights as well.
Let the games begin!
Water Jump Rope
Three contestants will make up each team for this game. Two contestants will turn the rope for the jumper. The jumper will hold a glass of water and jump rope for one minute. At the end of the minute, the team's water cup will be measured and the amount of water left in it will be recorded. The team with the largest level of recorded water in its cup at the end of the game will be the winner.
Teams of an equal number of participants will be required for this activity. The teams will be provided a sponge and a bucket full of water at each end of a relay site. Each team will run through its members passing the wet sponge off as the baton, but there's a catch ... each time the sponge is passed it must be dipped in the bucket of water and squeezed over the receiving team member's head by the passing team member. (Translation ... you're gonna get soaked!) The relay runs will be timed and recorded and at the end of the game the team completing the run the fastest will be the winner.
Fill the Pop Bottle
Teams of an equal number of participants will be required for this activity as well. For this relay race, one team member (who doesn't mind getting soaked) will lay down at the end of the relay track with a 2 liter bottle on his/her chest. Team members will start at the opposite end of the relay track with a bucket of water and a plastic cup. The object of the game will be to fill the 2 liter bottle with water using the plastic cup. The teams will be timed while they are completing this activity and their times will be recorded. The team to fill the 2 liter bottle in the shortest amount of time will be winner.
Towel and Balloon Toss
Two man teams will be required for this activity. Each team member will be given a towel to use as his/her tossing device and a water balloon to use as a ball. The object of the game will be to work together to pass the balloon back and forth to each other using the towels without breaking it. The number of successful passes will be counted and at the end of the game the team with the most successful passes will be the winner.
