[Namron] Populace Meeting, October 1, 2008

OYEZ!  OYEZ!  The following items were discussed at the October 1, 2008 populace meeting of the Barony of Namron held at Reeves Park.

Baron Donnchadh Beag mac Griogair and Baroness Muriel ingen Gille Crist:
 *  Protectorate is October 10 - 12, 2008 at the Will Rogers Boy Scout Reservation in Cleveland, OK.

*  Due to the probable presence of an authorized Equestrian marshal at Protectorate, we should be able to award the title of Barony Equestrian Champion.  This competition is scheduled to be held sometime around 3:00 p.m.  at Saturday.

*    Our barony's rapier fighters and several heavy fighters are preparing to attend Bordermarch Autumn Melees to help defend Ansteorra against the threat of invasion by Gleann Abhann, November 20 - 23, 2008.

*  After Protectorate, the Canton of Skorragarder will be holding Axeman V, November 14 - 16 at Will Rogers and the Canton of Chemin Noir will be holding Fair of the Harvest, November 9-11 at Will Rogers.  

*  Keep your eyes to the list for possible meeting places for populace meetings.  Denny's in Norman is (at least for the time being) temporarily closed, and might even be closed for good.

*  The 2nd populace meeting in October is planned to be held at Reeves Park until further notice.

*  The vote to determine whether to use the 2nd populace meeting date as a A&S night, instead of a populace business meeting will be held at the 1st populace meeting in November.  

*  At protectorate there will be a torchlight tourney on Friday night beginning sometime around 9:30 p.m.  This tournament is for the pleasure and entertainment of the baroness.  There will possibly even be prizes for the "last man standing."
Seneschal  Master Aethelstan Aethelmearson  
*  An officers meeting will be held on October 21, 2008, after the 2nd populace meeting in October, to discuss setting the budget for next year.

*  The position of Seneschal will be open for applications beginning at the 1st meeting in November and closing the 1st meeting in December.  If you are interested in this position consider applying at that time.  The transfer of office will hopefully take place at the 1st populace meeting in January.

Treasurer Lord Lúcás Mór mac Raghnaill
*  Now is your chance to serve your Barony.... there are only two spots remaining to work a gate shift at Protectorate.  All of these spots are on Saturday morning.  Contact Lucas or Adelheid to stake your claim!

*  If you are in need of a check, check request form, or reimbursement, please contact Lucas in advance so that he can make sure to have two signers and the correct paperwork available. 

Herald Lady Adelheid Lilje 
* As your Herald I have been visiting the Kingdom Order of Precedence and Taking Names(http://herald.ansteorra.org/OP/).  Using the Barony's list of people on the Namron Website, I have already added several Group affiliations to our members who have long been unclaimed.  This not only makes searching the OP much easier when looking for award recognitions (you can search the OP by group), but it also makes our barony look AWESOME.  However,  a handful of those listed on the website are not easily found in the OP due to name changes, spelling issues, and listing with groups from other Baronies and Cantons. I have however, almost taken care of most of these issues.  While the Zodiacus is thrilled at the work I have already done to update both our barony and the canton's group listings, she is eager for me to continue this work.  If you look at the OP and notice someone not on the Namron Group who should be there, please let me know.  

* Congratulations to Jacqueline Reynolds, whose name was Laurel Registered on 03/08.   You are now official!

Chronicler Sayyid Isma’il ibn Hasan ibn Assan (Ithrael)
* The October Plume was handed out at tonight's populace meeting.
*  Submit articles and pictures for the Plume to ithrael at gmail.com

Hospitaler Honorable Lady Adena Terricsdottir 
*  No new business. 

Archery Marshall Baron Ulf Gunnarsson
*  Practice is still being held on Sundays at Lord Christian's land, under the big tree beside Lord Sebastiana's house.   19300 SE 149th Street    Newalla, OK 74857-5307
*  The Archery Butts that were ordered have been delayed and will not be available at Protectorate, but should be available before Axeman.    

Rapier Marshall Lord Sebastiana Gerynot Fanelli 
*  Lord Sebastiana announced that the position of Rapier Marshall is now open for applications.  Applications will be open until October 21, 2008 (the second populace meeting in October).
* Lord Orlando Giovanni di Gilead announced that the rapier community will be preparing for War every Tuesday night until Bordermarch from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at his home.  This will also be the new site and time for the barony's rapier practice.

A & S Minister Lady Veronique de Mont Saint Michel
*  Scribal nights are held every Tuesday at the home of Lord Orlando and Lady Caterina. Please come and help paint baronial and kingdom awards.
*  Congratulations to Honorable Lady Melisande de Frayne, she had two articles published in the Complete Anachronist.  
*  The next chance to put your artistic talents on display will be at Axeman V, where they will be holding an A&S competition.
 *  Beginning in January, Honorable Lady Nicolaea MacFionndlaigh will be teaching painting and calligraphy at Scribal Night.  If there are any specific items you would like taught, please speak with Lady Veronique.

Knight's Marshall  Lord Rolf Thorinson
*  Practice is still being held on Sunday afternoons at Reeve's Park in Norman.
*  There have been several newcomers attending practice.
*  The barony has purchased some loaner armor that is currently being worked on.  If you have armor that you could loan out for the day, please come to Fighter practice.  The more fighters in armor, the more interest is generated in heavy weapons fighting.
*  There will be no fighter practice on Sunday, October 12, 2008.  You should however, come to Protectorate where you will get all of the fighting you could ever ask for on Saturday, October 11, 2008 where a new Protector will named.  

V-Scribe  Baron Ulf Gunnarsson 
*  In addition to updating the Kingdom OP, Ulf has offered to help Adelheid in making the search for awards even easier by placing links to individual OP sites on the barony's website under individual names.  He has been working with the Kingdom V-scribe on this, and hopes to have it completed sometime in the future.  

Other Business:
Protectorate Autocrats  Lord Orlando Giovanni di Gilead and Lord Kristen Ayre (Christian Truelove)
*   The latest information on Protectorate can be found at the website http://protectorate.agilejedi.com This site is updated almost daily.
 *  Items for Protectorate outgoing champion baskets are needed.  
*  There are no cabins available at Will Rogers Camp; however, there are two small hotels in Cleveland, Oklahoma and Tulsa, Oklahoma isn't too far of a drive from the campsite.  
*  Chivalric fighting will take place in the morning after court.  Rapier will begin at noon.  Equestrian will be held before feast and is open to adults and children.  You do not need to bring your own horse as Lord Kristen Ayre (Christian Truelove) will be providing the horses.  
*  The Kingdom Middle Eastern Dance Championship will be held after feast and evening court.  
* 8 DAYS LEFT UNTIL PROTECTORATE

Protectorate Feast O'crats Lady Caterina Giovanni di Gilead and Honorable Lady Melisande de Frayne
*  There will be a Fall Harvest Table Decorating contest at Protectorate feast.  
*  Feast will not be available by pre-order.  It will be first come, first serve and can be purchased at gate.   
Hasheika Maleah Farasha Raushana bint Abdullah 
*  We are still exploring sites for a place to hold approximately 300 people for a Known World Heraldic Event.  As it stands, the Postal Training Center may be too expensive, other sites such as the Biltmore and the Student Union are on the list of possible places.  More info to come.....
* (Mundane Business) - Adam will be home for a mid-tour leave the 1st 2 weeks in December.  This means that those who celebrate Christmas with Maleah's family will be celebrating it early this year.
* The Sunday following Protectorate, October 19, 2008, a paint party will be held to paint new baronial dishes for the Barony of Wiesenfeuer.  Contact Maleah for more information.  

Lady Isobel de Kirkbryde
*  Skorrargarder will be holding a fundraiser at Protectorate.  Donations will be taken for a drawing to be held at Protectorate.  The prizes will be  2 free site fees and 2 free feast tickets at Axeman.  
*  Donations for Axeman gift baskets would also be appreciated.
* If you have medical concerns that need to be addressed during Axeman, please contact Isobel.

Loemax D'sanai  
*  Lomax is seeking input from the heavy weapons community about the possibility of using boffer Caltrops during the torch light tourney at Protectorate.  
*  Lomax will also begin mundanely traveling soon, so it appears he will be arriving at BAM with an 18 wheeler, so if anyone needs to transport things to BAM, let him know.

There being no further business, the October 1, 2008, populace meeting of the Barony of Namron was closed.
