[Namron] Populace Meeting September 16, 2008

OYEZ!  OYEZ!  The following items were discussed at the September 16, 2008 populace meeting of the Barony of Namron.

Baron Donnchadh Beag mac Griogair and Baroness Muriel ingen Gille Crist:
*  Award recommendations are being sought  for Protectorate.  Anyone wishing to nominate someone for a baronial or kingdom level award please let their excellencies know as well as filling out the online form for award recommendation located at http://www.ansteorra.org/forms/award.php

*  Elfsea Defender, September 26 - 28, 2009 has been cancelled.  Their Excellencies Dáire de Haya and Druinne de Salesberie and The Barony of Elfsea are deeply sad to say that Elfsea Defender will not be taking place on September 26-28th due to the site being used by Hurricane Ike Evacuees. 

* Defender of the Fort XXVI and Royal Huntsman Competition, September 19 - 21, 2008,  has been cancelled.  Due to Hurricane Ike.

*  More information will be coming soon concerning what each SCA group can do to help the victims of Hurricane Ike.

*  The barony's number of rapier fighters is growing.  As such, the Namron rapier fighters are asking for help in creating baronial demi-capes and baldrics.  Our barony's rapier fighters are preparing to attend Bordermarch Autumn Melees to help defend Ansteorra against the threat of invasion by Gleann Abhann, November 20 - 23, 2008.

* The next Northern Region event is on September 20, 2008.  Triumph of the Exlipse III (Moonshadowe) will be held at Will Rogers Boy Scout Reservation in Cleveland, OK.
*  Protectorate will be held on October 10 - 12, 2008 at the Will Rogers Boy Scout Reservation in Cleveland, OK.

*  After Protectorate, the Canton of Skorragarder will be holding Axeman V, November 14 - 16 at Will Rogers and the Canton of Chemin Noir will be holding Fair of the Harvest, November 9-11 at Will Rogers.  
Seneschal  Master Aethelstan Aethelmearson  
*  An officers meeting will be held on October 21, 2008, after the 2nd populace meeting in October, to discuss setting the budget for next year.
*  A check has been approved for the purchase of new archery targets.
*  The position of Seneschal will be open for applications beginning at the 1st meeting in November and closing the 1st meeting in December.  If you are interested in this position consider applying at that time.

Treasurer Lord Lúcás Mór mac Raghnaill
*  A sign up sheet for gate workers at Protectorate are needed.  
*  As Protectorate draws nearer, if you need checks, reimbursements or advances, please give Lord Lucas advance notice so that he can be sure that there are two members of the signing party present to take care of treasury business.  
*  In addition to gate workers, Lord Lucas is looking for gate coordinators to help count down money after each shift.  Having several gate coordinators available will keep one person from having to be attached to the gate during the entire event.  

Herald Lady Adelheid Lilje 
*  Volunteers are still needed for voice heralds at Protectorate.  Please contact Lady Adelheid if you would be willing to help with list and site heraldry at this event.  
* Her excellency, Baroness Muriel, would like a volunteer to be a personal herald to their excellencies at Protectorate, keeping them informed of all the events taking place on the list including who is fighting, what they are fighting with, and how the list is progressing.  Contact Lady Adelheid if you would like to take part in serving their excellencies in this very special role.

Chronicler Sayyid Isma’il ibn Hasan ibn Assan (Ithrael)
*  Submit articles and pictures for the Plume to ithrael at gmail.com

Hospitaler Honorable Lady Adena Terricsdottir 
*  HL Adena welcomed newcomers to tonight's populace meeting.  If you are a newcomer and have questions, comments or concerns about populace meetings, events, or anything else having to do with the S.C.A., please feel free to contact her via email.
*  HL Adena is also in charge of water bearing for Protectorate.  She will be sending out an email soon asking for Gatorade, pickles, and fruit donations.  

Archery Marshall Baron Ulf Gunnarsson
*  Archery is averaging a turnout of about 18 people.  Loaner gear is available for those wanting to participate.
*  Practice is still being held on Sundays at Lord Christian's land, under the big tree beside Lord Sebastiana's house.   19300 SE 149th Street    Newalla, OK 74857-5307
*  New 36 in. burlap covered targets have been purchased for the Barony of Namron.    

Rapier Marshall Lord Sebastiana Gerynot Fanelli 
*  Lord Sebastiana announced that the position of Rapier Marshall is now open for applications.  Applications will be open until October 21, 2008 (the second populace meeting in October).
*  Mundane Business - Lord Sebastiana's lady will be holding a fabric sale on Sunday at their home during archery and rapier practice.
* Lord Orlando Giovanni di Gilead announced that the rapier community will be preparing for War every Tuesday night until Bordermarch from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at his home.

A & S Minister Lady Veronique de Mont Saint Michel
*  Scribal nights are held every Tuesday at the home of Lord Orlando and Lady Caterina. Please come and help paint Protectorate invitations and baronial and kingdom awards.
*  An open invitation has been given by the Barony of Wiesenfeuer to join their A&S night on the 3rd Wednesday of each month
*  Moonshadowe's Triumph will be the next northern regional opportunity to see A&S projects on display.

Knight's Marshall  Lord Rolf Thorinson
*  Practice is still being held on Sunday afternoons at Reeve's Park in Norman.
*  There have been several newcomers attending practice.
*  The barony has purchased some loaner armor that is currently being worked on.  If you have armor that you could loan out for the day, please come to Fighter practice.  The more fighters in armor, the more interest is generated in heavy weapons fighting.

V-Scribe  Baron Ulf Gunnarsson 
*  The office of V-Scribe for the Barony of Namron will be opening sometime in the next couple of months.  Although Master Ulf enjoys this office and would be willing to continue in his duties as V-scribe, if you are interested in this position keep an eye out for an official opening.

Other Business:
Protectorate Autocrats  Lord Orlando Giovanni di Gilead and Lord Kristen Ayre (Christian Truelove)
*   The latest information on Protectorate can be found at the website http://protectorate.agilejedi.com This site is updated almost daily.
 *  Items for Protectorate outgoing champion baskets are needed.  
*  There are no cabins available at Will Rogers Camp; however, there are two small hotels in Cleveland, Oklahoma and Tulsa, Oklahoma isn't too far of a drive from the campsite.  
*  Chivalric fighting will take place in the morning after court.  Rapier will begin at noon.  Equestrian will be held before feast and is open to adults and children.  You do not need to bring your own horse as Lord Kristen Ayre (Christian Truelove) will be providing the horses.  
*  The Kingdom Middle Eastern Dance Championship will be held after feast and evening court.  

Protectorate Feast O'crats Lady Caterina Giovanni di Gilead and Honorable Lady Melisande de Frayne
*  Pre-cooking for Protectorate has begun and will continue every Tuesday night (except populace meetings) at the home of Lord Orlando and Lady Caterina.  
*  There will be a Fall Harvest Table Decorating contest at Protectorate feast.  
*  The feast menu has been posted on the Protectorate website.

*  Ceremonial Baronial Guard Pike Drill will now be held on Sundays in conjunction with heavy fighter practice at Reeve's Park.  
Hasheika Maleah Farasha Raushana bint Abdullah 
*  We are still exploring sites for a place to hold approximately 300 people for a Known World Heraldic Event, more info. to come....
* (Mundane Business) - Anyone who has items for care packages need to bring them to the next populace meeting, Tuesday, October 7, 2008.
* The Sunday following Protectorate, October 19, 2008, a paint party will be held to paint new baronial dishes for the Barony of Wiesenfeuer.  Contact Maleah for more information.  

Lady Isobel de Kirkbryde
*  Sign language class has been cancelled this month due to a conflict in schedule.  
*  The Skorrargarder website has been changed and is now easier for those with special needs to access and use.
*  Skorrargarder will be holding a fundraiser at Protectorate.  Donations will be taken for a drawing to be held at Protectorate.  The prize will be free site fee or free feast at Axeman.  
*  Skorrargarder is also looking for a knife, ax and spear marshal for Axeman.
*  Donations for Axeman gift baskets would also be appreciated.

Aislinn
*  Aislinn is looking for pool noodles to be donated for a special project in the future.  If you have pool noodles you would be willing to donate, please contact her.  

There being no further business, the September 16, 2008, populace meeting of the Barony of Namron was closed.
