Yes A kiln heats slow and stops at a temp and then slow cools down. You should never open a hot kiln. A forge heats fast and holds the temp.

a kiln is different then a furnace, yes?
 
Pookster ~ who doesn't know much of anything at all. But knows (pert near) everyone, their knowledge base, interests, thought processes, familiarity with spiritualism, self imagery / self imposed limitations, and preferred desserts
