[Namron] Help Name Our Med fair Encampment

There are people used to looking for the SCA at Medfair, under that name.

It's short, so it fits on the map easily. If we use anything else, people looking on the map for the SCA may not find us easily.

And it fits for all the groups who come to help us. There are people from all the groups in the north, sometimes elsewhere, and frequently even from Calontir or other kingdoms. SCA would encompass everyone.

Works for me... but I think Wolfgang is talking about the map, mainly. There are King's Road and Queen's Lane, the "Merfolk Grove" (?!) and such... helping to stimulate the imaginations of visitors...

So, perhaps for the site a big "SCA" sign is the perfect thing, simple and unambiguous for those "ten-second impressions"... but maybe the map, which is less ephemeral thing, could have something a little more fanciful?

The Consulate of Ansteorra (SCA)? The Known World Outreach Center? Mission for the Liberation of the Mundane?

I certainly agree any signs and banners should be unambiguous and inclusive, but perhaps we should try to intrigue those who get a map in the southern loop and are looking for interesting places to visit?

Just my two bits (01)

Greetings,

Given that you have about 30 seconds to set a clear memory for a newcomer, why would we want anything more complex than "S", "C", "A"?

What is wrong with SCA, anyway? It's served us quite well since before the 1st Medieval Faire.

Regards,
Tadhg

Now that we stand ready to raise camp in new and expanded lands this year, we need help giving our encampment a name, something more appealing than "SCA Compound." This is the name that will appear in all the Fair planning maps as well as the guide map giving to visitors. Of course next to the name will appear "SCA" to eliminate any confusion about who and where we are.

It has been suggested since we are guests of the Royal Court of the Medieval Fair the name should reflect that we raise our friendly confines as an embassy of Ansteorra, especially since we will have Royal Presence this year.

Please come up with ideas and bring them to the next Populace meeting on the 20th. And if you are out of area or unable to attend, e-mail them to wolfgangvonsachsenhausen at yahoo.com.

	We thank you!

	Wolfgang
