The Western Sizzler here in Moore, just off I-35 and 5th, has a back banquet room. Don't know what their schedule is, but I have seen groups having meetings there.

Also, hotels with conference and/or banquet rooms... I 'rented' one for a PTA fundraiser once. The manager told me that they got to write off the amount they would have charged as a charitable donation. :DOne should as a rule respect public opinion in so far as is necessary to avoid starvation and to keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny, and is likely to interfere with happiness in all kinds of ways. -Bertrand Russell--- On Tue, 1/27/09, Jacqueline Reynolds <jacqueline_reynolds at cox.net> wrote:

Thank you for your suggestions. I hadn't tried calling the local museums or local business buildings with conference rooms yet. I will look into these suggestions. Also, thank you to everyone so far who was e-mailed me with responses. I appreciate it!

Not from your Barony but I know that groups can meet at community centers or even schools. In general, you'd have to call each school and let the principal decide. For instance, here in Eldern we wanted an indoor fighter practice in winter and out of four schools, two said yes and one closed too early... Leaving us with the fourth, which was perfect.Another thing to think of are museums, schools (including colleges), and business buildings and/or complexes with conference rooms. They usually rent space but sometimes give it for free to non-profits. Places like OU or OCCC have endless rooms and space for classes and the whatnot. Find out what's not being used and if you can use it... The worst thing they can say is no. Maybe even try Metro-Tech. Places like that are usually open in the evening for some classes but not as many classes as during the day - leaving open space for meetings. :) Plus, they might be more educationally inclined. Just my two pence.... Will head back to my hole now...Rose the ObnoxiousOne should as a rule respect public opinion in so far as is necessary to avoid starvation and to keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny, and is likely to interfere with happiness in all kinds of ways. -Bertrand Russell--- On Mon, 1/26/09, Jacqueline Reynolds <jacqueline_reynolds at cox.net> wrote:

I have tried calling several places, but none of them worked out. The library is not always available and the Golden Corral was pretty noisy(heating unit was loud), but the food was good & plenty. Plus, there werelots of people mentioning that there was too much talking in that type ofenvironment.Let's think of indoor locations (so we don't have to worry about theweather, bugs, noise, etc), cost effective places (free or minimal cost), closeto restaurants or a place that we can bring food in and lastly, a place locatedin Norman or Moore. What about having our meetings at a church location like the Barony ofWiesenfeuer? What about meeting at another school
library? Any other thoughts? Please e-mail all ideas to me ASAP. I, or my deputy Bubba, will look into anyand all suggestions that are brought to our attention.
