[Namron] Sites Discussion

Size attendance for Coronation in the past have usually been in the 300+ range.  You have to consider that most of the Peers, Landeds and Nobles will be there, along with their sig others (if they already aren't a Peer, Landed or Noble) and/or children.   It is not impossible to see 450+ at a Coronation.

I do not have the totals from the current past Coronations.  But I am sure if you research to find who the groups were that hosted for the past few years, they should be able to give you ballpark figures for a trend analysis.

My understanding is that TRHs wish to have their Coronation in the immediate Metro OKC area.

Coronation is usually an indoor non-camping event.  I believe that this is what TRHs are expecting.

Therefore, as you consider sites, please keep the following things in mind.
1. Large hall area appropriate for court and feast and general populace hangout.  Large enough to handle 400-500 or more COMFORTABLY.
2. Smaller break-out rooms for Outgoing/Ingoing Crown to rest/change or have meetings (minimum of 2, preferably 3-4).
3. Cooking facilities for the feast. (and an ample food staging area would be nice too)
4. Enough restrooms for 400-500 people to use and are they large enough for folks to change into all their finery (e.g. Tudors with hoop skirts) and not get the hems or sleeves in the toilet.

When you find a site that you think will work, then contact the autocrats with the details, such as where, contact name and number, and approximate site costs.

Happy site hunting!

Annais

Morning everyone,
this is why I was asking for an approximation of attendees, so we knew better what to look for as far as size capacity.

Cheers,
Caitrin

Greetings!

I haven't read through every post on the Coronation disucssion, although I
have a fair number of them, and saw Chass mention the Robbers Cave State Park
site we used in Rundel's final event.

While I suspect the final site will be in the OKC area, I would mention
another site we used in Rundel, the Pittsburg County Fairgronds. It's not as
pretty or scenic as Robbers Cave, but there are some elements that migt be of
interest in general to SCA events;

+ A number of very learge outdoor barns; can be used for a variety of uses, even
camping and indoor fighting at a pinch. The barns form a semi-curve around an
open area that can be used for fighting and other uses, even an outdoor court

+ Southeast Expo Center, which is about 50-70 yards from the barns, has areas
that can be leased. There are concession/kitchen facilities there, and the
bigest area, which is concrete floored, can seat a few thousand to two smaller
areas, the larger of which, I'm guessing, could fold 700-800. It's fully climate
controlled, has a small stage (est. 15 x 30 ft.) and I've MCed banquets there,
before.

+ A rodeo arena is about 75 yards south of the main Expo building.

+ Located along U.S. 270, the site is about a mile east of the Indian Nations
Turnpike, and about 3-4 miles west of the business portion of U.S. 69 Highway in
McAlester.

I graduated high school with the manager of the Expo facaility.

FYI,
Val
