[Namron] Fundraiser at populace meeting

Greetings,

I *STRONGLY* recommend that you review our contract with the Medieval Faire.

Since we are performers...not merchants, we are constrained on what we can do. Further, if we begin augmenting our funds, the Medieval Faire will be justified in reducing the amount they pay us.

For many years, we were receiving a stipend that was not even commensurate with an entertainer. The justification was that we were getting money from our new recruits. I had a long conversation with Linda Lynn over where the money for memberships actually goes. Fortunately, it resulted in stipend increase the following year; however, those gains can be erased by a public fund raiser.

My recommendations is a jar for donations in the Refreshments tent. Folks are eating without paying food prices for the Medieval Faire...and will generally pitch in something for the tavern.

We are entertainment to the fair-goers...and this is a great opportunity for SCA recruiting for the entire region. However, I am loathe to become a carny act.

Regards,
Tadhg
...brick by brick
