[Namron] Fundraiser at populace meeting

One thing we used to do many years ago, we would have a collection jar either at gate or at the tavern, for donations to go to the Crown travel fund. This could be done whether the Crown was in attendance or not.

Subject: [Namron] Fundraiser at populace meeting

Greetings all,
One of the topics discussed in the meetings I attended at round table this weekend was the kingdom travel fund. It seems that the travel fund is only $2000 here in Ansteorra where it is $4500 in many other kingdoms. As you can imagine, $2000 doesn't go very far for crowns who have to travel to Pennsic and Gulf Wars in addition to all the other events they must attend. Therefore, the crown needs our help to raise travel money. In answer to this call, I am asking everyone to bring an SCA related item to put in a silent action at our February pop meeting. We will hold the auction after the meeting. All proceeds from the auction will go to the kingdom travel fund. This is a great opportunity to get rid of some SCA items you no longer use and pick up some new items. I hope to see everyone there.
YIS to the Dream,
Baronessa Caterina

But as your Treasurer I can tell you it is our biggest loss on money. We only receive $400 for doing the fair and spend usually over $500 for refreshments, with this in mind as your Refreshment Coordinator I would like to start a volunteer list of food items that members might like to donate to the cause. We would like to keep it to cheap finger foods the more we can get people to donate the less we have to spend from our budget. Suggested items would be a loaf of bread, a package of lunch meat, a bag of carrots, pickles, a bag of oranges, sweet rolls, hard boiled eggs, etc. Thanks for any and all the help.
