John McWilliams of Oklahoma Baptist University to Deliver the Second Lecture in the 2012-13 Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series Friday October 5th 6:30 pm at Norman Public Library

Plucked, bowed, or hammered, strings have dominated music for millennia. This presentation examines our ancient obsession with vibrating strings and how early cultures adapted stringed instruments for their musical preferences. John McWilliams, Associate Professor of Natural Science at Oklahoma Baptist University will be presenting a program on the art, science, and history of early music. He and his wife Sherry perform as Rose Rock Consort at Medieval Fair and other venues. He also makes his own historically accurate instruments.

The talk will take place in the A/B Room of Norman Public Library (225 N. Webster), Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Future talks in the monthly series will include explorations, often inviting audience participation, health care, dances, Viking ships, and drama.
