OU's "Science in Medieval Culture" – A Presidential Dream Course is offering another lecture free and open to the public Tuesday October 23rd 4:30, Community Room, Zarrow Hall

Joan Cadden, University of California, Davis
“Sex and Science in the Middle Ages<http://cas.ou.edu/cadden>”

Joan Cadden studied medieval history and literature before receiving a PhD in the History of Science. Her research focuses on issues relating to gender and sexuality in medieval science and medicine. She has taught at Harvard, the University of Colorado, and Kenyon College prior to her appointment at the University of California at Davis. During 2004-2005, she served as President of the History of Science Society. Her book, Meanings of Sex Difference in the Middle Age: Medicine, Science, and Culture (Cambridge University Press 1993), received the Pfizer Prize awarded by the History of Science Society for the outstanding book on the history of science published in the previous year
