Join us this Friday for the last Medieval Fair Free Lecture of the school year.
Norman Public Library West, 300 Norman Center Ct. (former site of Borders Bookstore) Friday, April 7, 2017, 6:15pm-7:30pm
J.R.R. Tolkien's Medieval Mythology Presented by Professor Joyce Coleman, University of Oklahoma Rudolph C. Bambas Professor of Medieval English Literature & Culture and Director of the Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies. The Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series is Co-sponsored by OU's Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies.
"Millions of people now know J.R.R. Tolkien as the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Far fewer know that his "day job" was teaching Anglo-Saxon and Medieval Literature at Oxford University. This talk will explore how Tolkien built Middle Earth out of his fascination with language and with medieval and heroic texts-mixed in with his own experiences fighting on the Somme in World War I."
Come learn more about the middle ages just for the fun of learning! No papers, no tests, just interesting information about life long ago.
