Maleah, I have a great recipe for chocolate chip cookies. My brothers
revolt if I don't bring some down every year for Christmas presents.
lol Thank you, so much, Ulf. Now I know how to address two new
friends correctly, I have at least a basic idea of how to address others
of your standing in the SCA and if I have a question about being a
Viking, sewing, or belly dancing, or how to become an officer in the
SCA, great people to go ask. How cool is that! Do I have
you call you by title every time I talk to you or is it permissible to do so
only in court or populace and be less formal in other arenas? Is i! t
the wise or polite thing to do to address other Barons and Baronesses by their
formal title at all times or times when it's better to be less devoted to
procedure? Grainne has contacted me offlist and I am going to try to
help her however I can and Lady Cassandra has graciously offered her
assistance as well. To this point I have developed my character as a
15th c. basque from southern France in the Pyrenees. It's hard to find a
lot of information about the basques and there's not a lot of written history
to go by so I am trying to apply common sense, but if there's anyone out there
who knows anything about the basques, I have questions!! lol
I have an interest in weaving, and have enough books that I've ordered
to stock a small library and my fiance has graciously built me a Navaho loom
which may not be period but at least gets me started. However, I am
having a problem understanding how to properly set up said loom so that my
projects ! don't contract in the middle. I know I'm doing something
wrong, but don't have anyone to ask as to what it is. Suggestions
anyone? By the way, my loom is 4' x 6'. I want to do large
projects; banners, rugs, blankets. I don't know if the process using an
inkle loom is that same, but surely some concepts work simularly. I can
sew and have some garb put together. Some material is modern, some
traditional, and the patterns I used altered by me to suit me personally,
but I have to use a sewing machine due to the limits of my time. I hope
that works, but I don't want to be attacked by the authenticity folks, cause
truthfully I don't exactly know if I'm period or not, I'm just playing with
clothing that caught my fancy. Is that ok? I have to run. My
fiance is busy trying to sell my house and I still have at least half of my
stuff in it. I have to get there before someone gets my dragon
collection. lol Thanks again to those folks who responded to
