color:blue'>I know and understand that the Equestrian Championship tourney was
just used as an example here, but it would be a *<b><span style='font-weight:
bold'>very</span></b>* sad day for the Barony of Namron and the Kingdom if the equestrian
tourney (or *<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>any</span></b>* championships
list) were to be cancelled because of lack of an appropriate site. For
those of you who do not know, the Kingdom Equestrian was started in our very
own Barony through the tireless efforts of HL Valia of the Mist, Lady Wren of Wolf
Star, Lady Shelena of Wolf star, Baroness Caitlin and several others ( I apologize
if I left anyone off that list). So the Equestrian is something I think
Namron really needs to stick with. One event a year should not be that
hard. And we have a slew of new people interested in Equestrian in our
group and in the North and I know that want it to keep going. I believe,
and Katie and correct me if I am wrong but I believe that we had 9 riders for
this years competition. That is a good turn out for up here in the
North. It’s been growing every year and if there are sites south of
the Barony we can use, that means a few less hours to haul and a better reason
to put the event down as one to go to.</span></font></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue'> </span></font></p>

color:blue'>The sites are there, several people from the Barony and outside the
group, both in the past and fairly recently have taken the time to find them.
I do think it is way past time to check into these sites, if the good gentles
who have done the research (Grimmie and Chass come to mind immediately) still
have their lists maybe the Seneschal, Officers and their Excellences can take a
gander and see what all is out there. Time is a wastin’, Beltaine
is only seven months away and Protectorate 12 months, the time to look for a
new site is now, not a couple of months before the event.</span></font></p>

look at when making the decisions about sites to use is the return we receive
for the expense. To use Danielle's example of the equestrian tourney, is
the approximate $2000 more we apparently paid to use this site worth the
pleasure of continuing to sponsor an equestrian tourney? I would like to
know the financial committee's', both past and current, thoughts on this.</span></font></p>

pointing here. We need to evaluate what we, as the populace of this
Barony, thought about this event. We need to encourage the exchange of
ideas so we can work together for future events. We have a work crew who
is willing to jump in and do some improvements to make Camp Cimmeron better for
the SCA, but we want to direct all this energy and enthusiasm for the best of
the Barony. It is my hope that Danielle and the many others who worked so
hard on the planning of this years Protectorate will not take this as a
personal attack, and will want to be part of the evaluation process. I
know just how difficult it is to hear complaints about an event that you have
worked so hard to produce, but that is the only way for everyone to make good
decisions in the future.</span></font></p>

use, or would like to see changes in future events, I have a suggestion... put
in a bid to be an event steward. As an event steward, (or co event
steward if that would be more feasible) you would get to make decisions about
things such as which site to use, how much to charge, and other important
decisions. If these sound like decisions that you would like to make, do
some research to find a site, make a bid and submit it. It is easy to sit
on the list and make suggestions, but it is much more productive to take those
suggestions and do something about future events. We looked at new and
different sites for Protectorate, but the reasons that we decided not to use
them were specific to Protectorate XXX. You may want to use a different
site for the next one. I am very much in favor of finding new sites, and
I wish you luck. Please remember though, if your bid does not meet the
requirements needed to put on one of the championship competitions (i.e. the
equestrian tourney) it may not be accepted. </span></font></p>
