any song that is preformed well or act that is pulled off by a bard would works ... folk filk county gospel what ever ... anything that sounds traditional works ...does not have to be old to sound like it should be ... i have seen bards singing john denver and winning over crowd .. or taking well known song and singing different words... telling a twisted a little fairy tail or old maids tail .... we should have bardic meetings to test some of these .... just for bardic fair practice ....animate .. articulate or gyrate .... one of them will win over someone in the crowd....<br>

I think most folks would be receptive even if they dont know the back story, as long as someone is a decent performer. Heck, I listen to Spanish music all the time.. At times I have no clue what they are saying but I can feel the mood they are expressing and its just as powerful. Any song in particular you think they wouldnt connect with, without a back story? Another thing.. I've heard you give US the extended explanation (or maybe the short one) and you do a fantastic job at making it interesting<div class="HOEnZb">

I know some bards who would have a BLAST with this concept...my only concern is finding songs in the repertoire that will connect with the fair goers and not need alot of extended explanation because they are so SCA specific.<div>
