Fantastic idea. I know its a little show - play-y for what we normally do but the med faire seems like such an excellent place for this type of fun and introduces the public to us. The rapier community generally fights a little differently.. (Sometimes its hard to tell, LOL) but we get a little sillier and try to be entertaining.

It would be REALLY hard to #1 be loud enough for the entire crowd to hear and #2 be difficult to connect with them even if they did hear. The ideal of taking the bard around to make good on his dues would give a more intimate feel, even if the bard WAS in shackles. LOL

well i sing like a frog in the beak of seagull ... but i do have some story telling experience ... the problem is i am planing on doing armoring demos for med fair . ...

one thing we did that had great response before at public demos ... is one knight( or just another bard in armor ) .. takes a bard around in very loose (long chained)shackles so they can preform .. and the knight calls out form time to time that this bard has upset the king or stolen bread or so on ..... and now must entertain the crowds as his tax ....the bard preforms ..... then go on to say ... if you liked or hated the performance drop by the embassy.... to cast your vote for the fate of the bard (pardon or beheaded...they all get pardons). .. this also started a small bardic war to see who could get the most votes .... no prizes or anything .....but see who snagged the most pleas for freedom votes ... the following year we made a scrolls pardoning the bards..... gave copy to knight and bard ...as part of a demo court event at set times each day .... then the bard would steel some bread or stick out tongue at king / baron and be told he has 24 hours to pay off debt again...after a short chase the bard is taken away in shackles again ..... makes for some action in court and keeps the crowd cheering for knights or bards .... also makes it easier when you have partner in crime or bardic ... i can make some shackles for this but want them back when done .... scarey thing is they sell .... and will sell them off later ...not at med fair .....
