Friday March 1, 6:15pm-7:30pm, WEST Norman Public Library (300 Norman Center Ct.)
Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series
"Cooperation Between Muslims and Christians During the Era of the Crusades" presented by Jacob Lackner, Visiting Lecturer, History Department, University of Oklahoma.

The era of the crusades (1095-1291) is often thought of as a time of violence and religious hatred between Muslims and Christians. However, not all relationships between these two religious groups were hostile. When Muslims and Christians
weren't at war, they were often actively trading with one another. Even during times of war, it was not uncommon for Christian states to ally themselves with one Muslim state while fighting against another one. This talk will discuss these and other positive
relationships between Muslims and Christians in the Holy Land.

The Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series is cosponsored by the OU Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
Come learn more about the middle ages just for the fun of learning! No papers, no test, just interesting information about life long ago.
