Please let me induce, yea, inveigle (from medieval Latin ab
oculis, lacking eyes (that is, hoodwink); 1. to win over by
wiles: ENTICE; 2. to acquire by ingenuity or flattery; see
LURE) more people to do court report forms and mail them to
Zodiacus Herald. Yes, the heralds doing court should do
them. No, sometimes they don't. The awards at some events
have gone entirely unreported ... and unrecorded ... Even
if they do a form, having two or more is great. It's a
cross-check on what was actually given (e.g., the herald
wrote a name before court but the recipient wasn't present
so they held the awards for later), and the herald's report
may go walkabout.
The forms may (should) be available from your local herald.
If not, any reasonable-sized blank piece of paper should do
-- but the form is much better, because it tells you all the
info that is desired:
Name of event
Date of event
Branch holding the event
Presiding noble(s)
Signatures of same after court
Copying names off the charter is best, of course, but even
a phonetic rendering can at least get the award recorded.
I was going to add "besides, if they take an uncivilized
name like Saminihdach ingen Fhiouhnnhuallhin, well, they
just get what they deserve", but Baroness Xara will
doubtless raise an eyebrow about the meaning of
"uncivilized", and wonder aloud what could possibly be
civilized outside Greece and (on a good day) southern Italy.
