Saludos! I am taking a college class in Medieval Civilizations
300-1300 at NSU. One of my textbooks; {"Medieval Europe: A Short
SourceBook by C. Warren Hollister, Joe W. Leedom Marc A. Meyer &
David S. Spear (ISBN# 0-07-029724-X)} mentions "The Song of Roland".
Does anyone have a copy they could send me, or perhaps you could tell
me where to find it?

The reason I am curious is this: Charlemagne's biographer,
Einhard discusses the 30+ war with the Saxons and then goes on to
describe his attempt to conquer the people of the Pyranees. Einhard
calls them "Gascons", but the footnotes say they are actulally
"Basque".
I remember from my Spanish history that Charlemagne Conquered
just about everybody he came up against EXCEPT the Basque. (Vascos:
from la Provincia Vasgongadas in the Spanish languaguage)

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but, wouldn't "Gasons" be from
France? Do the Spanish have record of this encounter in some form or
other, or are the Franks the only ones who recorded this incident? I
plan to be at Gnomon Vale this Saturday if someone has the answer and
would rather speak to me directly, or you can Email me if you prefer.
Just seeking to expand my learning...
