NR - Question of Long Ago

Greetings to the Readers of this List!
I have a question, but bear with me for a bit of an explanation
first; I have been in the SCA twice before in high school without an
organized group, and in college when we tried to make a group work in
Durant (Tandure,) but it didn't.
My question relates to my first SCA event while in high school. It
would have been 1980-81, maybe give or take. It was a winter coronation
held in Wisenfeur at a National Guard Armory.
I still have vivid memories of the event, but did not know anyone
when I got there, except for the friend I went with. Whose coronation
was it? And, whose reign was ending?
I was very unknowledgale of the conventions of the SCA at that time.
The best that I can recall is that the King who had just taken up the
Crown did not desire fealty to be sworn to him. Also according to my
recollection, the just-past Crown desired to swear fealty as a boon.
Could someone clear up for me who the Crowns were there that winter
night? My apologies if my memory has been in error, but parts of that
night seem so clear, these near-20 years later.

   Thanks!
   Valstarr Hawkwind
