It seems that I left too early Sunday at ATYC. One of our own, Jean Paul,
managed to acquit himself well on the field of battle and achieved the
recognition of the Queen herself. In honor of this, Tighearnach composed a
sonnet memorializing the event. By his permission, I share it with you now.

> III. The Frenchman
>
> A clouded morn the noble Frenchman faced
> 'Twas steamy air he drew with ev'ry breath
> A field of honor many fighters graced
> Intent on vict'ry sweet or peace of death
>
> So once the Frenchman had to call retreat
> And twice he bested those who sought him out
> But soon the soldier feared he faced defeat
> The much-feared Duke now faced him, hale and stout
>
> And so the Frenchman lifted up his glaive
> The Duke his weapon likewise brought to bear
> One mighty blow the Gaulish fighter gave
> The Duke was slain! the battle done and fair
>
> And when the Queen did choose her Guard that day
> The Frenchman did her Majesty bid stay
>
> Tighearnach mac Morgain
> 12th July, AS XXXIV
> In honor of Jean Paul du Sens
> his defeat of Duke Kein in the King's Champion
> and his appointment to the new Queen's Guard
>
