NR - RE: Mead Bee Wars

How sad that anyone chose to be offended by Aldric's post. It is true
that those who missed Mead Bee War missed a fun event. I'm sure
anyone who knows Aldric realizes his intent was not to insult or
accuse. It is equally sad that, after all that our King had to
say at NRT about unity and pulling together, people still feel
the need to jump at shadows. It is almost as if they prefer to see
only the worst in others.

Its understandable that there might have been some confusion
surrounding the Mead Bee War. It is also true that some wanted to
mire the event in politics (I spoke to several people about this very
thing). What a useless waste of time and energy! Let me assure
everyone that politics had *nothing* to do with Wiesenfeuer's
sponsorship of this event.

In the interest of rumor control (if you are already bored with this
discussion, delete now) let me clarify. Wiesenfeuer has had Camp
Cimmaron reserved by contract & non-refundable deposit for the third
weekend in February since early 1999 (the same date - give or take a
week - that Wiesenfeuer has had an event on for the last 14 years.).
When we decided we were not going to host Northern Regional Tribute,
we elected to sponsor House WolfStar's Mead Bee War on our weekend
rather than cancel our site contract and lose our site deposit and
calendar date. It had nothing to do with politics and everything to
do with economics and good plain fun.

We are, in fact, grateful to both Ld. Johann and Centurion Tor (as
heads of House Wolfstar) for helping us find something to do on this
weekend. It saved us the hassle and negative press that breaking a
site contract would have generated. We actually recovered our site
deposit and had an incredibly good time. Its been quite a while
since Barn and I have been to an event where we felt so free to be
ourselves and have fun.

We were truly sorry that the date could not have been more convenient
to Vatavian fighters. As Ceridwen pointed out, our site obligation
was set in stone this year. If, indeed, there is to be a Mead Bee
War II, then we will certainly work with House Wolfstar and the
Barony of Vatavia to ensure a more mutually acceptable date.

If this falls under the heading of "too much information" then perhaps
people will forgive me for keeping them over-informed. I feel that
people can handle the facts, and I definitely feel far too much
damage has already been done to this region over politics, secrecy
and folks overreacting to imagined insults. The plain truth is there
has been far too much "politicking" (yes, I looked that word up in
Webster's because I couldn't believe it was real) and not near
enough having fun. I hadn't had fun at an event in so long that I
had almost lost sight of the fact that fun is why we're all here.

I apologize in advance if my words offend anyone, but I felt the
rumor mill has had sole control of this issue for far too long.

If anyone has a problem with Ld. Aldric's words, please address
them to him as he requested. If you would prefer, you may bring
your concerns to his knight, Earl Barn, or myself. I'm sure with a
little more communication and a little less supposition that we can
clear up any misunderstandings.

In Service,
Katrionna MacLochlainn, OP
Baroness of Wiesenfeuer
