While I have strong opinions on the principality issue, I want to take an
aside moment to elaborate on what Don Hawkins said here.

For those of you who have declared that you are leaving the northern list:
please don't. While there was an unpleasant outburst of late, it was
partially due to an unfortunate misposting and otherwise an altercation
involving one or two people, perhaps. HL Estril has given fair warning that
she intends to keep the list free of flames. I trust her. I encourage you to
do so, as well. The cause of reasoned discussion, however, is only harmed if
everyone willing to engage in it drops out over an incident.

I second the call Don Hawkins made -- to everyone (including Etienne)
interested in rational discourse -- to stay and engage in such, and the call
for everyone interested in personal attacks to take that show on the road.

'Nuff said.
