NR - Principality

Well, this is probably a bad idea but here goes...

I just waded my way through all 90 or so e-mail messages and the worst of it
all is it seems that very little actual discussion took place, or at least
not as much as you would expect from this many messages.

>From what I could gather, the main benefit to a Principality would be to
allow smaller groups the opportunity to see more royal courts.  Really, this
is it.  There have been discussions about the size of the Kingdom and how
hard it is to travel, but the responses all said they would still travel,
possibly more.  I'm not even really sure about the Crown not traveling as
much since that's part of their duties to the Kingdom, and a Principality is
still part of the Kingdom right? The awards would still be the same, even if
they did get transferred down to the Coronets, the same processes would
apply, maybe it would be easier to get awards for working in your own
region, but the biggies would still be Kingdom level.

Since I remember at least one other time that this issue was raised, and
about the same kind of reaction came up from all sides, I have to assume
that if we ever do become a Principality, we'll have to talk about Kingdom
so we have something to fight about.  The North has a lot of strong people,
and because of that we have a lot of strong opinions.  We shouldn't let this
get in the way of playing the game that we all love.  A discussion, even a
heated one, can stay just that if everyone can focus on the matter at hand
and not each other.  Come on, if you can compete against someone, Heavy,
Light, A&S, Bardic or whatever, usually face to face, and still shake their
hand win or lose why can't it flow over into message typed on a list?

I'm wondering, is there anyone on this list who went through the
transformation from the Principality of Ansteorra to the Kingdom of
Ansteorra that could shed some light on the changes, good and bad?  Yes I
know that we aren't talking about Kingdom, but there have to be some
similarities.
